Help! X-type won't start
Does anyone know why after replacing starter and battery cable, my 2003 x-type won't start? We've tried everything. The only thing is the alarm. It flashes repeatedly after turning the key to II position and car does nothing. All the lights in the instrument cluster turn on and the locks work but the car won't start. Can anyone give me ideas, PLEASE! I'm desperate... been without a car for 5 days!!

Reprogram the key ??
if you change the KEY (fob) battery you have to reprogram it
you can do the following,, it might work..
1. Insert the key and turn to position I
2. Turn the key to position II and back to position I (quickly repeat four times) and you will hear a chime if it was done correctly.
3. Turn the key all the way back and take it out.
4. Now press any button on the key fobs to be added and you will hear another chime.
5. If you have a set of keys for step (4) you have to press any button on two or more fobs at the same time so they both have the same code or elses one will work and the other won't.

Tom Jones has hit it on the head, the problem seems to be with the immobilser if your centre console light keeps flashing once you put the key in. Just be sure that the new key or battery replaced key is the one you are trying the above with otherwise the remote will not be synced with the car

Hello Everyone. Took my car to the dealer and just got it back this Saturday. They want to charge me $3800.00 to replace the Instrument Cluster or Pack and the Gearbox Rotary Switch. I did a search and found out I can get an Instrument Cluster used for about $100.00 and the Rotary Switch has to come from Dealer ($80.00) I planned to install these myself and then take it back to the dealer for programming. They will only charge me $140.00. Now, can anyone tell me where the Gearbox Rotary Switch is? Thanks!

Replaced all items on my own.
If anyone is interested, I just replaced the instrument cluster and the neutral switch (gearbox) by myself. I'm not a mechanic, but I was able to get an idea from reading different threads on this site. THANKS!!
If anyone needs to do this is really simple. Write me and I will pass along instructions.
