Maintenance Cost

Maintenance Cost
Im about to pull the trigger on a 2010 or 2011 XFR. I can't get over how good this car drives for its size and the wow factor. Love the lines of the car and I especially like that I don't see one every 3 minutes (like BMWs).
My dealer is trying to have me get into a 2011 he has left on the lot. He says due to the included free maintenance its a better deal. Im on the fence about it. He's telling me that the oil changes on these cars are $600! And the major service is $1600! Is service on these that much? I think Im being snowed here. I can get a 2010 for around $15000 less but with no maintenance.
Ive owned plenty of high HP cars and Ive never gone through tires or brakes. Current car has 50000 miles and Ive never had to change the brakes. I just don't see that paying the extra $15,000 is worth it. I drive 98% on the freeway.
Anybody have any comments?

Get the 2010. Shop around for service if they want $600 for an oil change. That's crazy.
I'd say brakes and tires every 20k is what you'll get on that car. Really, any high performance car driven hard will be in that range. I don't think they cover tires in that maintenance plan do they? Even so that's $2k max for tires and brakes can't be more than $1k unless you need new rotors. Even with $600 oil changes isn't the interval stated at 10k miles so that's $1200. That's $4200 for worst case scenario.

I have already been through a set of rotors on my 6k mile 2011 XFR - glad it was a 2011! But I paid 2010 price for mine so it was an easy decision when I was buying. At $15k premium, if you keep the car until the warranty is up, you will need at least $3k a year maintenance to break even - which is far more than you will need to spend. The package doesn't cover tires, which are the priciest and most frequently needed consumable.
My service light came on the other day and it is going in tomorrow for its first service (@ 6k miles! but I think it is about a year old). I will ask how much that would have been if I didn't have the platinum warranty.

When I gave up my 2010 Premium for a new leftover 2011 S/C 3 weeks ago , I had just under 20,000 mi on it, and had nothing but the first (free) 15,000 mi service done at the end of the first year. The car had acually 14,000 mi at that time. Dealer tells me the 2010 would have cost me going forward if I kept it to end of 3 year lease besides 1 set of tires: $140 for one oil change, $400 for brakes (probably rear). I say only 1 oil change, because I would have returned the car few days before the end of the 3rd year....
The tires at 20,000 mi were only approx. 50% worn.
The 2011 S/C, I hope to keep to the end of the 39 month lease, and just deal with tires.

Sorry, forgot to ask this morning since it turned out it didn't need a service, they had not reset the service counter when they did one before I took delivery. I am told it will need servicing next July but the car won't tell me, and if I miss it by more than 2 months, the platinum warranty is voided!

I wondered about that, I haven't taken a car in for regular maintenance tasks in years. I have done all my own oil, intake, and brake work for my other cars and keep my own logs. Are they really allowed to void your warranty for that?! Over $100 a quart doesn't seem very reasonable lol.

I've had my oil changed at an independent garage as well but for some reason don't think I'd trust the corner quick lube shop.
