Call your (or a local) dealer's service department. They will ask you for the last 4 (or 8?,don't remember) digits of your VIN. They will then provide you with the radio code.

It's been said that it's only required non USA cars... but mine is a USA car, and it did require a code after prolonged power loss, and the dealer knew about the process as they immediately asked me for VIN and within 15 seconds gave me my code over the phone.

You might also look on the inside of the hood. Mechanics from previous repairs have been known to write the code there.

After you get the code and get the radio working you might scratch the number somewhere like the boot floor by the spare wheel. If you live in the US you need to set the radio to US and enable RDS if you want that feature. If set to US RDS it should not require a radio code again, but if you change countries then you loose all your preset stations. There are features that can be enabled/disabled like tape head and aerial cleaning reminders, tape eject on/off etc. All info should be in your ICE booklet and it is also in a TSB 415-06.

Couple of months ago I was changing the climate control unit, and I had to unplug the radio to get more working room. It was unplugged for over an hour. Did not require the code on hook up. Everything worked fine, except the presets were lost of course.

My car doesn't require a code. I've done a few hard resets.

Default radio code override

Hi,

I remember overriding the radio-code with my 03 xj. I found the instructions and this is what you should try:
try the following - ( this is a method to reset the unit )

Press the FFWD and PTY buttons for a few seconds to override the the code.

Some models- you need to press the A.MEM, >> and PTY together.

I hope this works for you.

Just reset my 02 x type using >> A.Mem PTY
All pressed at the same time, did,nt work first few times.
tried again 20 mins later after driving car before turning
engine off when reaching my destination. Worked then.
Think if it does'nt work straight away allow 10 mins before trying again.
good luck.

Default my 2003 jaguar xj8 radio code bypass

On my 2003 jaguar, instead of the
"PTY" button, mine says "pt0"? Is this the same button I should be pressing simultaneously with the ">>" + "A-mem" ??

I've pressed these 3 together and nothing has changed.
