I'm just curious on what performance mods have any members done to there XJR's and whathp gains did you get.

 

I read somewhere that a fresh set of Flint Grey floormats is good for like 6 HP. Not sure if that was measured at the flywheel or rear wheels, though.

You ALWAYS measure floormat hp gain at the rear wheels. (regardless of color)
Check your SAE handbook.

I got 8HP, those were black mats though... Seat of the pants adjusted for humidity and altitude.

I grew up in Lexington just outside of Mansfield.
Born in Cincy though (at Good Sam).

Back in the 70s Mid Ohio was owned by a fellow named Les Grebling (Im sure its some corporation now).
The gate ticket sales were handled by the local Kiwanis club of which my dad was a member. We would go along and sell the programs at the gate for a while and then wander around the race for a while (with Dads paddock pass as well). After a while we would head back to the gate for a sandwich and a pop. The food concessions were the local band boosters and the band members manned the many food stations. (I sold food as well )At that time I dont think you could buy beer there but you could bring your own.
After a big race, usually 4 or 5 a summer if we wanted to make some money we would walk into town an sit on the library steps and wait for the track truck to pick us up. They d ride us out to the track and we would pick up litter with a sack and a short broom handle with a nail in the end. As there were beer cans lying all over one of us would spear a full beer that had been left behind and had been lying in the sun all day. We would usually find some change or maybe a buck or two lying on the ground while picking up litter. There was usually someone would make a big find of $20 to $100. After the days work we would line up to get paid out. The pay was a buck an hour. You d get a five two singles and two quarters (big money at the time for an 11 year old). Then we d all get back in the truck and they would drive us back into town. If you lived on the way you would tap the back window and the driver would pull over and slow down so we could hop out.
Those days are some of my best childhood memories and I feel sorry for the kids nowadays who dont get these opportunities to develop a good work ethic and the satisfaction of earning ones own money. And the fun of riding in the back of a pick up truck with the wind in your hair with your buddies and $7.50 in your pocket for a days work.

No aftermarket source that I know of for woolies, and I'm sure the factory set is a fortune. I have some used ones...never spit on them, but they are used. PM me if you want talk amongst ourselves.

 

Jaguarparts.com has them for $385. Don`t know it that is a good deal or not. I bought mine from ebay for $120.
