    Hello Steve, XKRGUY

You have helped me many times before when I had an XJS. Now I have 3 XK8s.

My 97 XK8 has a P0706 transmission fault, almost always displayed. After many long troubleshooting sessions, I think I might have found the problem.

Back Sep 2010, you commented on another Jaguar owner's shift micro switches, saying that the tab was missing from one of them.

Could you please look at a photo?

If the tab is broken short of its full length, and the shift shaft is not properly maintaining pressure on the tab, I think this causes the TRANSMISSION FAULT and throws code P0706. Then it goes into limp home mode.

So, if it is the short tab, (1) do you know where can I get a replacement tab, or (2) a replacement micro switch?

    Thank you as always,

    Very respectfully, Bob G.

Hey Steve, thanks for the reply! Should the drive have the PATA style connector? Should it be the 2.5" size? Have you rebuilt the batteries in these? Ours is pretty old and needs to be rebuilt. I see people online offering the rebuild service for about $100 but I also see threads on here that batteries can be sourced but I'm not having any luck with the numbers they list. There used to be a place in Louisville we would take this WDS to for servicing periodically but they are long gone. Do you know of anyone who works on them? Again, thanks for your time! JD

Greetings Xjrguy. I have a WDS that has been iffy as far as booting up properly for several months now. I was trying to program a new key fob yesterday and it kept saying the cable was not connected. Then it went into a reboot mode and finally just reads "boot failure" on the screen. Do you think it's repairable? Thanks! JD

Any luck? I'd be interested in seeing the X351_en_2013.pdf if that's the most recent one you have.

    Thanks again.

I think one I saw posted was X351_en_2010 on.pdf. It was from your post on this page:

    https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...ecoding-49929/

The problem is that the 7th character for sure, and the 8 character I believe don't correspond correctly with what is in the vin's of U.S. market cars. The 7th character in U.S. vin's is a letter, not a numeral as indicated in the pdf I referenced. The 8th character in U.S. vin's seems to indicate the engine -- either "B" for naturally aspirated, "E" for supercharged, or "C" for supersport.

I noticed on your list from the page I linked to above that some of the decoding pages have "US" in the name. Is there a version especially for the U.S. market X351?

Thanks again for your time and help.

    Best regards,
    Mike Miller

    Hello,

I saw your post from back in 2011 that listed PDF's for VIN identification for various models. I'm trying to find that information for U.S. model X351's. Do you have that or can you direct me where I might find it? The X351 PDF listed is clearly not for U.S. market vehicles.

Thank you very much for your time.

    Best regards,
    Mike Miller
